Top 16 Round 3: ALBA - Aris 61-65

Aris celebrated the first win at the EuroCup Last 16 stage. Today the Greek team claimed a vital road win as they tamed ALBA in Berlin. Kiki Clark accounted for 20 points to lead Aris. The Greek side improved at 1-2 record, while ALBA slipped at 2-1 in Group I. ALBA used a 10:0 run early in the game to take a 10:3 lead. The hosts stayed in charge in the first quarter and built a 17:16 advantage at the first intermission. Kiki Clark and Kakiouzis helped Aris surge in front early in the second stanza. The teams traded baskets for some time in the quarter before Kiki Clark and Aaron Miles gave the visitors a 35:31 halftime advantage. ALBA unleashed a 9:1 run at the beginning of the third frame as they regained the lead. But Kiki Clark came up with a bunch of points late in the period and Aris finished the third frame on top 47:44. Immanuel McElroy tied the score early in the fourth frame. Aris responded with seven unanswered points to be back into the drivers seat. Soon the visitors established an 8-point advantage and though ALBA were able to get within two in the dying seconds Aris stayed calm and pulled down away with a narrow win at the end. Aaron Miles and Andrew Betts delivered 13 points apiece for the winners. Blagota Sekulic and Rashad Wright accounted for 15 points each for ALBA. Immanuel McElroy finished with 12 points, 6 boards and 3 assists in the loss.
