Top 16 Round 4: Valencia - Galatasaray 98-95

Valencia narrowly defeated visiting Galatasaray. The Spanish team needed overtime to tame the Istanbul outfit 98:95. Galatasaray had their backs against the wall without a single win before the game. But their desperate efforts came up short at the end. The Turkish side tasted 9:7 lead and later Buker added a seven-meter bomb to put the guests back ahead for 16:13. The hosts however responded with 13-1 run to take 26:20 at the end of the first period. Galatasaray was far away from giving up and responded with 9-0 run for 32:29 advantage. Rancik added free throws to make it a seven-point game at 43:36, while the half was finished at 49:43 for the guests. It was not sweet for the host at the beginning of the third frame when they trailed 50:59. Nielsen scored down low to cap a 12-0 run that tied it at 66:66 early in the fourth quarter. The game was also tied at the end of the fourth stanza for 83:83. The overtime however belonged to the hosts that 92:84 with 3 minutes left. Valencia managed to keep the score for good and won the game. Rafael Martinez notched 24 points to lead the charge. Victor Claver added 21 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for Valencia as they improved at 3-1 record. Darius Washington responded with 26 points for Galatasaray as they ran out of chances to advance into the next round. Radoslav Rancik accounted for 19 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.
