Unics survived some late threats from Galatasaray before eking out a vital home win in EuroCup Last 16 fifth round. Unics now improved at 3-2 record and remained in the race for the ticket to the next round of the tournament. Unics will travel to Spain to take on Valencia in the final round of the Last 16 stage. Unics must win in the game but Galatasaray silenced the crowd in Kazan at the start of the encounter. The visitors opened it with 7 points in a row. However Veremeenko stopped the bleeding and Unics soon adjusted. Veremeenko drew things level at 17 late in the period. The forward put the hosts in front soon and Unics rallied to a 23:20 advantage at the first break. Marko Popovic stretched the margin to 6 points early in the second frame. Kresimir Loncar extended the distance to 10 points midway through the period. However Jasaitis, Wilkinson and Washington dragged the visitors within 5 points at the interval. Galatasaray exploded with a 6:0 run in the third quarter to jump in front. The teams traded baskets for some time before Beyaz drained a three-pointer to seal the third quarter outcome at 69:66 for the Turkish team. Murat Rifat Kaya gave the visitors a 5-point lead early in the fourth quarter. Unics reacted with six points in a row to spur in front. The lead changed hands for several times before Unics finally set up an 87:80 advantage with two minutes to go. Galatasaray did not surrender and cut the deficit back to a single point. Marko Popovic and Maciej Lampe scored three free throws in the dying seconds to seal a tough win for Unics. Maciej Lampe knocked down 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for Unics. Marko Popovic top-scored with 22 points in the victory. Darius Washington responded with game-high 32 points, 7 assists and 5 boards for Galatasaray. Radoslav Rancik netted 15 points in defeat.
