Eurocup
Semi-Finals Game 1: ALBA - Gescrap BB 77-70
Date: April 17, 2010
ALBA Berlin joined Valencia in the EuroCup Finals and they will fight for the title tomorrow at 21h. Of course, the bet is huge as the winner will book a spot for Euroleague 2010/11 season. Adam Chubb was a key player for ALBA tonight as he scored 27 points and pulled down 7 rebounds, all of that for 27 minutes on the floor. Immanuel McElroy had 13, while Derrick Byars, Julius Jenkins and Rashad Wright followed with 10 points each. In Bilbao, Levour Warren answered with 14 points and 8 boards, but he had poor 0/5 from behind the arc. Jerome Moiso scored 12 pts. ALBA opened the game with quick 4-0 lead, but Bilbao replied with 0-9 soon after that. The Germans grabbed 12-11, but still first quarter finished with 18-18 tie. Hervelle drained a triple for Bilbao to close this period. Golemac shined for ALBA at the beginning of the next quarter and together with Adam Chubb he forced Bilbao to call a time out at 26-20. Nothing has changed after that as ALBA made mini 5-2 run. The Spanish squad came to 31-26 after baskets by Blums and Salgado, and actually that was a lead which ALBA somehow managed to keep for rest of Q2 (35-30). Adam Chubb made a lay up to end this period. ALBA was up all the time after the breather. They had 40-34 and later 46-38 advantage. Mumbru and Hervelle shined for Bilbao after that as they managed to close the gap to just 46-42, so ALBA’s coach Pavicevic was forced to call a OT. That was a good decision as Immanuel McElroy drained a triple and Jurica Golemac followed with a jumper. Teams exchanged baskets to finish third period and ALBA was 7-points up, 56-49. The last chance to do something tonight Bilbao had with 2 minutes left, when Mumbru made a bomb for 67-64 deficit. Immanuel McElroy responded with a crucial triple and Dojcin collected a steal. Rashad Wright grabbed the ball and was sent to the line to secure a spot in the EuroCup Finals.
