1/8 Finals Round 2: Villeneuve - Arras 56-58
Date: January 19, 2011
Arras once again was better than Villeneuve booking a spot for the EuroCup Quarterfinals. Visitors celebrated tiny 56-58 win, but they also had plus 10 from the first meeting. It means that Arras won this two-game series with 134-122 and will meet Dynamo-GUVD at the next stage. The guests trailed by 3 points after three quarters before their 16-11 charge, which allowed them to win the game. DR Congolese power forward Pauline Akonga Nsimbo notched a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds to lead the effort and American guard Leilani Mitchell supported her with 14 points and 9 rebounds. Even a double-double of 17 points and 13 rebounds by American power forward Carla Thomas did not help to save the game for Villeneuve D'Asco. Nigerian center Olayinka Sanni added 11 points and 7 rebounds for the hosts. Visitors forced Villeneuve to commit 18 turnovers in this game. On the other side, they had six less.
