Estudiantes claimed the top position in EuroCup Last 16 Group K. They held off Galatasaray in an exciting clash in the final round of action in the group. Josh Asselin came up with 22 points and 8 rebounds to pace the hosts as they improved at 5-1 record. Galatasaray slipped at 2-4 record in the third position in the ladder. Galatasaray surged ahead in the opening minutes. The lead then changed for several times throughout a close first period before Estudiantes ensured a 23:20 lead at the first break. Daniel Clark and Nik Caner-Medley gave the home team a 28:22 lead early in the second term. Soon Nik Caner-Medley opened a double-digit lead for the hosts. Galatasaray managed to cut the deficit at 8-point mark at the interval 34:42. Estudiantes began the second half strongly restoring a double-digit advantage. The Spaniards stayed in charge as they arrived at the final break up by 8 points 57:49. Sertac Sanli scored quick five points early in the fourth period as Galatasaray got closer. Preston Shumpert unloaded 7 points in a row midway through the fourth quarter as the visitors pulled in front 61:60. The Turkish team were still up by one 69:68 within the final minute of regulation. But Josh Asselin and Albert Oliver followed with three points and Estudiantes snatched a tough win at the end. Nik Caner-Medley delivered 21 points for Estudiantes. Preston Shumpert nailed 18 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and distributed 4 assists for Galatasaray. Sertac Sanli, Tutku Acik and Jerry Johnson had 8 points each in the loss.
