Quarter-Finals Round 1: Goettingen - Benetton TV 66-66

Benetton and Goettingen havent decided on the winner in todays EuroCup quarterfinal series opener. The first game ended in a draw. The teams will now move to Treviso to decide on the winner in Treviso on March 30. Goettingen looked better side in the opening term. They limited Benetton to just 15 points in the starting period and piled up a 6-point lead at the first break. Goettingen maintained the advantage in the second stanza. The German side dominated on the boards and kept the visitors at bay. Goettingen notched a 41:32 halftime lead. But Benetton changed complexion of the encounter early in the third term. With the help of Alessandro Gentile the Italian side went on a massive rally at the beginning of the second half. Benetton erased the deficit and eventually surged in front. They pulled ahead 51:50 with ten minutes remaining. Neither side gained a decisive advantage in the fourth quarter. So it a draw that leaves the questions unanswered before the return leg. Mike Scott finished with 15 points and 8 rebounds for Goettingen. Dwayne Anderson tallied 13 points, while Trenton Meacham had 11 points. Alessandro Gentile provided 22 points and 7 boards for Benetton. Greg Brunner accounted for 10 points and 10 boards.
