Quarter-Finals Round 1: JuveCaserta - Unics 84-90

Unics made a huge step towards EuroCup semifinals after edging Pepsi Caserta in Italy. Unics will now have to shield off a 6-point lead at home court in a week. It was a tough battle where Unics used all of their experience to snatch a narrow victory at the end. The Russian team set the tone early. Unics accounted for 22 points in the first term to gain a 4-point lead. But Pepsi Caserta were ready for the challenge. They increased the tempo in the second period scoring 26 points and cutting the deficit to just two points 44:46 at halftime. The teams went neck and neck in the third term. Unics got luckier eking out a 61:60 lead with ten minutes to go. Pepsi Caserta tried hard to pull in front but the visitors poured in 29 points in the final stanza to escape with an important road win at the end. Vladimir Veremeenko stepped up with impressive 30 points, 12 boards and 3 assists for Unics. Terrell Lyday added 16 points in the victory. Eric Williams had 22 points for Pepsi Caserta. Jumaine Jones finished with 18 points and 9 boards in the loss.
