Regular Season Round 5: Valencia - ASVEL 96-88

Valencia advanced into EuroCup Last 16 round after they edged Asvel at home court. Six players scored in double figures for the Spanish team. Andrew James Ogilvy and Rafael Martinez produced 16 points each to pace the winners. Asvel fell at 3-2 record and would need to defeat Lukoil in the last round of regular season to advance. Valencia got to a brisk start to the game. The hosts ensured a 23:18 lead after ten minutes. Valencia stretched their lead in the second term. They went on a 10:0 run and gradually cleared off to a 49:34 halftime advantage. Valencia maintained the lead throughout the third quarter. The home team secured a 67:52 cushion heading into the fourth period. The gap grew to 21-point mark early in the final stanza. Asvel managed to claw their way back within 8 before losing the battle. Rihards Kuksiks scored 15 points, while Nik Caner-Medley posted 12 in the win. Paul Lacombe notched 14 points for Asvel. Hilton Armstrong provided 13 points in the loss.
