VEF Riga advanced into Last 16 stage of EuroCup. The Latvian powerhouse edged PAOK in Thessaloniki tonight to climb at 3-2 record in Group B. PAOK slipped at 1-4 record and lost any chances to advance. Kristaps Janicenoks posted 21 points to lead the winners. PAOK led by a single point 21:20 after ten minutes of action. But VEF RIga made a decisive surge in the second term. The visitors outscored PAOK 26:18 for a 46:39 halftime lead. PAOK controlled the tempo in the third term but VEF Riga did not allow the hosts to get within striking distance. The visitors entered the final period up by six points 63:57. They kept PAOK at distance throughout the final frame and celebrated a key win eventually. Curtis Millage finished with 14 points, while Janis Berzins added 12 points for the winners. J.R. Giddens delivered 13 points and 9boards for PAOK. Marcus Goree had 18 points in the loss.
