Top 16 Round 2: Khimky - ASVEL 86-80

Khimky celebrated the second straight win at the start of EuroCup Last 16 round. They overcame ASVEL at home court to stay on top of Group J. Thomas Kelati nailed 18 points to lead the effort. Khimky got to a quick start. The hosts erupted for 25 points in the opening frame to take a 10-point lead. Khimky kept their opponents at distance throughout the second quarter. The Russian team built a 41:30 halftime advantage. The game remained under the hosts control after the big break. Khimky ensured a 12-point buffer heading into the final quarter. ASVEL poured in 28 points in the fourth term but could not change their fate losing the game at the end. Vitaly Fridzon notched 17 points, while Kresimir Loncar accounted for 15 points for the winners. Edwin Jackson answered with 18 points for ASVEL. Phil Goss had 14 points as the French team fell at 0-2 record.
