Top 16 Round 3: VEF Riga - Gravelines 78-61

VEF Riga resurrected their EuroCup campaign with a home win over Gravelines. The victory opened the win count for the Latvian team in Last 16 round Group I. VEF Riga improved at 1-2 record, while Gravelines fell at 0-3. Antanas Kavaliauskas stepped up with 23 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge. VEF Riga entered the game full throttle. The hosts erupted for 27 points in the first quarter to take a 9-point lead. Gravelines slowed VEF Riga down in the second quarter. The visitors managed to cut the deficit at 7-point mark at halftime 38:45. VEF Riga however stressed defence after the big break and held their opponents to just 12 points in the third quarter. VEF Riga headed into the final frame up by 11 points 61:50 and made it look easy cruising to the victory at the end. Dairis Bertans accounted for 13 points, 6 boards and 5 assists for VEF Riga. Sandis Valters provided 9 points in the win. Ludovic Vaty and Cyril Akpomedah answered with 14 points each in the loss.
