VEF Riga gained a crucial win in EuroCup Last 16 stage. They defeated Nymburk on the road to climb at 3-2 record in Group I. Nymburk in the meantime were left at 2-3 record and with little chances of reaching the next stage. Dairis Bertans fired 21 points to lead the visitors. Nymburk seemed to stay in control in the first half. The Czech champions recorded a 25:23 lead after ten minutes. They stretched the gap to three points at halftime 39:36. But the third term turned things upside down for the hosts. VEF Riga ignited a 19:9 run to take a 7-point lead before the fourth frame. Nymburk showed character erasing the deficit in a nail-biting regulation finale. But VEF Riga was determined to bring victory from Czech Republic. The Latvian powerhouse knocked down 16 points in overtime and rolled to the victory at the end. Sandis Valters delivered 16 points, while Gatis Jahovics had 13 points in the win. Petr Benda answered with 22 points for Nymburk. Chester Simmons nailed 19 points in the loss.
