Valencia showed no mercy in Riga tonight. The Spanish team overcame VEF Riga denying the hosts a chance to advance into EuroCup quarterfinals. Valencia in the meantime celebrated the sixth straight win in Group I and cruised into the next round. Andrew James Ogilvy provided 20 points for the winners. VEF Riga had to win to qualify for the playoffs. They started the game aggressively taking a 20:13 lead after ten minutes. But Valencia gradually took over starting from the second quarter. The visitors cut the deficit to 3 points at the interval 32:35. Valencia pulled ahead in the third term. The visitors secured a 55:52 lead with one quarter remaining. The margin grew at double figures midway through the final term. VEF Riga fought desperately to save the encounter but Valencia stayed calm in the final minutes and sealed the victory at the end. Vitor Faverani posted 13 points, while Rodrigo San Miguel had 9 points in the win. Donatas Zavackas answered with 17 points and 8 rebounds for VEF Riga. Sandis Valters had 16 points in the loss.
