Finals Game 1: Khimky - Valencia 77-68

Khimky celebrated the EuroCup title at home court tonight. They outscored Valencia in a thrilling Final. Khimky also booked the Euroleague ticket for the next season. Khimky and Valencia tried to stay safe in the opening period. They stayed neck and neck throughout the first ten minutes. Khimky eked out a 16:15 lead after ten minutes. Khimky extended the lead in the second quarter. The hosts boosted the margin to as many as 7 points at the interval 37:30. But Valencia managed to revive the intrigue in the third frame. The Spaniards erased the deficit. Serhiy Lishchuk knocked down eight points to put Valencia in charge 44:45. But Chris Quinn answered with a three-pointer to return the lead to Khimky. The home team managed to secure a 52:50 lead into the fourth frame. Claver hit a trey to put Valencia back in charge early in the final stanza. Zoran Planinic returned the lead to Khimky in the next possession. But Valencia stayed close. Niklas Caner-Medley drained a three-pointer to tie things up at 66 with just over two minutes left. However it was the last success for the Spanish team. Khimky proved determination and calm in the key moments of the game. The home team capped regulation on an 11:2 run and sealed a triumphant victory at the end. Zoran Planinic accounted for 19 points, while Kresimir Loncar added 14 points in the winning effort. Niklas Caner-Medley answered with 23 points and 11 rebounds for Valencia. Serhiy Lishchuk added 16 points in the loss.
