Qualifying Round Day 5: BULGARIA - ROMANIA 68-70

Very exciting game was played in Pravetz last night. Romania managed to take 68-70 thriller win against Bulgaria improving to 2-2 record in group D of the 2013 EuroBasket qualifications. Bulgaria stays winless after four games. The winner was decided in the finish. Vera Perostiyska made a basket for Bulgaria with 55 seconds to go tying the score to 68-68. Alexandra Uiuiu then missed a jumper for the visitors and Bulgaria rebounded, only for Uiuiu to grab a miss by the hosts' Radoslava Bachvarova. Romania called timeout and Annemarie Parau scored for the guests after that. Bulgaria called timeout and the team was able to get the ball to Jaklin Zlatanova, who attempted a potential game-tying shot but missed. Ancuta Stoenescu led the winners with 25 points and 5 rebounds. She made 6 of 11 attempts from behind the arc in this game. Gabriela Marginean had 22 points and 6 rebs, while Parau collected 12 points, 7 assists and 6 rebs. In Bulgaria, Zlatanova was way better than the others with 25 points and 7 rebs. Bachvarova (5 rebs) and Perostiyska (6 rebs) scored 15 and 12 points respectively. Quarters: 15-17, 23-24, 13-8, 17-21. Romania will play in Sweden on Saturday, while Bulgaria waits powerful Spain.
