Qualifying Round Day 8: LUXEMBOURG - ITALY 66-88

Italy is very close to 2013 EuroBasket in Spain after this victory. Visitors cruised past Luxembourg 66-88 for 5-1 record in Group E of qualifications. Luxembourg dropped to 0-7 and stays the last ranked team in this pool. The game without a history. Italy made double-digit lead in the second period and never looked back. Quarters: 19-20, 12-22, 18-22, 17-24. Laura Spreafico scored 19 points for the winners and Giorgia Sottana had two points less, plus 6 assists. Raffaella Masciadri and Ilaria Zanoni netted 13 pts each. Lisy Hetting delivered 15 points for the hosts and Nadia Mossong had 13. Their third corer was Jill Bausch with 12 pts (5 rebs). Italy will host Greece on Wednesday. Luxembourg will play against Greece next weekend.
