Qualifying Round Day 5: LATVIA - ROMANIA 89-53

Latvia celebrated the second win in 2013 EuroBasket qualification. They stormed past Romania in Riga. Latvia thus improved at 2-2 record in Group D. Romania slipped at 1-3 record after the loss. Rihards Kuksiks stepped up with 19 points for the winners. Latvia earned a 7-point lead after ten minutes of action. Latvia boosted the lead in the second quarter. The hosts unleashed 28 points in the period to establish a 49:29 halftime lead. Latvia kept Romania at bay throughout the third term. They held Romania to just 10 points in the frame taking a 31-point advantage before the final stanza. The visitors never recovered as Latvia coasted to the victory in the final frame. Edgars Jeromanovs accounted for 16 points, while Dairis Bertans added 13 points in the victory. Andrei Mandache replied with 14 points for Romania. Vlad Moldoveanu had 11 points in the loss.
