Qualifying Round Day 9: ICELAND - MONTENEGRO 92-101

Montenegro celebrated the ninth straight win at 2013 EuroBasket Qualification. They silenced Iceland on the road to stay perfect. Vladimir Dasic had a monster game tallying 38 points and 14 rebounds for the winners. Iceland opened the game with six consecutive points. The hosts maintained the lead throughout the opening quarter and secured a 23:19 lead at the first break. The margin grew at 9-point mark midway through the second frame. Hlynur Baeringsson ensured a 40:30 lead for Iceland. The hosts stayed on fire offensively building a 61:39 lead at the interval. Montenegro used an 11:0 run midway through the third frame to narrow the gap at 9-point mark 62:71. Taylor Rochestie put the Balkan team within 7 points at the final intermission 69:76. Vladimir Dasic and Taylor Rochestie narrowed the deficit at just a single point early in the fourth frame. Iceland were still up by three points 83:80 with just over five minutes remaining. But the visitors triggered an 11:0 rally to take a 91:83 advantage with under a minute to go. Iceland could not recover and had to surrender at the end. Taylor Rochestie finished with 31 points, while Sead Sehovic posted 11 points in the victory. Jon Stefansson provided 32 points for Iceland. Hlynur Baeringsson had 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists in defeat.
