Latvia advanced to Eurobasket 2013 taking the four best third-place teams Latvia advanced to Eurobasket 2013 taking the four best third-place teams. Latvia finished third in Group D of the Qualification Round after 85:77 win over Romania. The latter finished the campaign with 1-7 record. Latvia needed a win in the to be sure about the third place with 5-3 record. They started the game with 27-16 and had 10-point lead at the halftime. Moreover Latvia added 21-20 in the third period and did not mind 20-23 in the lasts stanza. Berzins Kaspars and Strelnieks Janis brought the final points for the winning side. Strelnieks Janis top-scored for the winners with 14 points, while Berzins Kaspars posted 13. Bertans Dairis, Meiers Martins and Bertans Davis netted 11 points each in a win. Silvasan Mihai replied with 19 points in the losing effort and Baciu Catalin scored 14. Dragusin Ionut posted 12, whilst Mandache Andrei and Paul Mihail-Octavian finished the game with 10 points each.
