VEF Riga confirmed their highest EuroCup ambitions this season clinching an impressive road win against Artland Dragons in the opener tonight. Antanas Kavaliauskas and Dairis Bertans posted 18 points each to lead the Latvian champions. VEF Riga started the game aggressively. They secured a 22:14 lead ten minutes into the game. Artland cut the deficit in the second stanza. The hosts clipped the margin at 5-point mark 32:37. However VEF Riga shifted the gear in the third term. The Latvian side unleashed 26 points and ensured a 12-point lead at the final intermission. Artland Dragons fought hard to rescue the battle but VEF Riga breezed to the victory at the end. Kristaps Janicenoks netted 15 points for the visitors. Anthony King nailed 16 points for Artland Dragons. Dennis Horner had 13 points in the losing case.
