Kayseri claimed the opening victory in the EuroCup eighth-final series versus Mersin. Evanthia Maltsi dropped 21 points to lead Kayseri to the home victory. Mersin will host second leg of the series at home court in a week. Mersin started the game strong. They jumped to a 24:17 lead after ten minutes. The hosts stepped on the gas in the second frame. Kayseri exploded with 28 points to narrow the gap at single point 45:46. Mersin extended their lead in the third term. The visitors piled up a 76:70 lead heading into the fourth period. However Asjha Jones and Evanthia Maltsi stepped up in the crucial moments and helped Kayseri got away with a narrow victory. Asjha Jones delivered 17 points, while LaToya Sanders provided 14 points and 11 rebounds in the win. Shavonte Zellous answered with 24 points for Mersin. Erlana Larkins had 22 points and 16 boards for the visitors.
