Dairis Bertans converted a layup with 4 seconds to go in regulation to seal a crucial win for VEF Riga in EuroCup regular season Group C. The Latvian champions managed to punch the ticket to EuroCup Last 16 stage with the road success over Le Mans. Both teams needed victory to advance. It was a tough battle with the outcome decided in the final seconds. VEF Riga and Le Mans were tied at 17 ten minutes into the game. The French team pulled their noses in front for a 36:34 halftime lead. The lead changed hands throughout the third term. Khalid El-Amin capped the period with a three-pointer to give Le Mans a 50:47 advantage. VEF Riga erased the deficit and surged ahead midway through the fourth frame. Kristaps Janicenoks made it 65:60 for the visitors with under three minutes remaining. Khalid El-Amin responded with a triple and then followed two free throws from Cuthbert with a layup to put Le Mans in front 67:65. Kristaps Janicenoks tied things up at 67 with a layup and then Dairis Bertans came up with his key bucket. Khalid El-Amin tried to win the game at the buzzer for the hosts but missed the target. Kristaps Janicenoks provided 18 points to pace VEF Riga. Dairis Bertans and Earl Rowland added 12 points each for the visitors. Khalid El-Amin answered with 24 points and 8 assists for Le Mans. Joao Paulo Batista finished with 16 points in the loss.
