Unics Kazan recorded the first win in EuroCup Group G. They upset Maccabi Haifa in Israel in opener. Andrew Goudelock stepped up with 22 points to lead the winners. Unics set the tone early in the game. The Russian powerhouse dropped 22 points in the opening frame and secured a 9-point lead after ten minutes. Unics stretched the gap in the second term. The Kazan team accumulated a 46:29 halftime advantage. Maccabi Haifa changed the complexion of the encounter in the third term. The Israelis limited Unics to 9 points in the period and cut the deficit to just 6 points at the final intermission. Unics however picked up the tempo in the fourth frame. They dropped 20 points and sealed the winning outcome at the end. Ian Vougioukas, Luke Harangody and Tywain McKee had 9 points each for the visitors. Ike Ofoegbu responded with 15 points for Maccabi Haifa. Moran Roth chipped in 12 points and 8 assists in the loss.
