Maccabi Haifa celebrated the second win in the EuroCup regular season. The Israeli champions fired past VEF Riga in the Latvian capital tonight. Moran Roth stepped up with 22 points, 7 assists and 5 boards to lead the visitors. VEF Riga knocked down 23 points in the starting quarter and eked out a 2-point lead. But Haifa turned things around in the second quarter. The visitors used a 26:12 run to secure a 47:35 halftime advantage. Maccabi stayed aggressive throughout the third term. They piled up a 15-point lead at the final intermission. VEF Riga failed to slow their opponents down as Maccabi unloaded 24 points in the fourth period and sealed the victory. Donta Smith chipped in 18 points, while Brian Randle and Ike Ofoegbu had 12 points each in the win. Derrick Nix responded with 14 points and 9 rebounds for VEF Riga. Kristaps Janicenoks netted 13 points in the loss.
