Regular Season Round 4: Zalgiris - Unics 77-71

An interesting game for Lithuanian Zalgiris (3-1) which hosted in Kaunas 4th ranked Russian Unics Kazan (1-3). Third ranked Zalgiris managed to get a 6-point victory 77-71. Zalgiris made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. Unics Kazan was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a very good performance for American James Anderson (198-89, college: Oklahoma St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his nine free throws !!!). Guard Arturas Milaknis (195-86) contributed with 14 points for the winners. American-Turkish Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) replied with 24 points and Greek power forward Kostas Kaimakoglou (206-83) added 11 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Unics Kazan. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Zalgiris have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending Lithuanian champion moved-up to second place in Group A, which they share with Anadolu Efes. Loser Unics Kazan keeps the fourth position with three games lost. Zalgiris will face bottom-ranked Banco di Srd in Sassari in the next round. Unics Kazan will play at home against BC Nizhny Novgorod and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
