Very important is a road loss of second ranked Laboral Kutxa (2-2) against sixth ranked Valencia Basket (1-3) on Friday night. Visiting Laboral Kutxa was defeated by Valencia Basket in Valencia 79-69. It looked good early as Laboral Kutxa took an 7-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Valencia Basket had a 23-14 second period charge getting the lead and Laboral Kutxa was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 69-79. American forward Luke Harangody (201-88, college: Notre Dame) fired 23 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Belgian point guard Sam Van Rossom (188-86) chipped in 14 points and 9 assists. Four Valencia Basket players scored in double figures. Georgian forward Tornike Shengelia (206-91) produced 20 points and French point guard Thomas Heurtel (188-89, agency: Comsport) added 11 points and 7 assists respectively for lost side. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Valencia Basket maintains sixth position in Group D with 1-3 record. Laboral Kutxa at the other side dropped to the third place with two games lost. Valencia Basket's next round opponent will be Neptunas in Klaipeda and it may be quite challenging game. Laboral Kutxa will play at home against Crvena Zvezda and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
