Regular Season Round 5: Cedevita - ALBA 67-80

Quite upsetting was Croatian Cedevita's home defeat in a game versus German ALBA Berlin 80-67. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-67. ALBA Berlin dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Cedevita's 28. The best player for the winners was American swingman Reggie Redding (196-88, college: Villanova) who scored 10 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. His fellow American import forward Jamel McLean (203-88, college: Xavier) chipped in 20 points and 5 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Four ALBA Berlin players scored in double figures. Power forward Tomislav Zubcic (208-90, agency: Beo Basket) produced 13 points and 6 rebounds and point guard Roko-Leni Ukic (196-84, agency: XL Basketball Agency) added 15 points and 5 assists respectively for the hosts. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. ALBA Berlin maintains fourth place in Group B with 2-3 record. Defending Croatian champion Cedevita dropped to the bottom position with four games lost. They share it with Limoges. ALBA Berlin will meet CSKA Moscow on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cedevita will play against Unicaja Malaga and hope to win that game.
