Regular Season Round 7: Crvena Zvezda - Neptunas 79-62

Everything could happen in Beograd at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked Serbian Crvena Zvezda and 4th placed Lithuanian Neptunas had identical 3-3 record. This time Crvena Zvezda used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Klaipeda 79-62 on Thursday night. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 44-25 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Crvena Zvezda dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Neptunas' 32. Quite impressive performance for center Boban Marjanovic (222-88, agency: Beo Basket) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Slovenian guard Jaka Blazic (196-90) contributed with 19 points and 8 rebounds for the winners. Four Crvena Zvezda players scored in double figures. Forward Deividas Gailius (200-88) answered with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists and forward Donatas Zavackas (203-80, college: Pittsburgh) added 8 points and 7 rebounds in the effort for Neptunas. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Crvena Zvezda (4-3) moved-up to second place in Group D. Loser Neptunas dropped to the third position with four games lost. Crvena Zvezda will face bottom-ranked Valencia Basket (#6) on the road in the next round. Neptunas will play against the league's leader Olympiacos in Athens.
