The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Russian UMMC Ekaterinburg as it allowed them to take a leadership position in Group A. UMMC Ekaterinburg defeated 3rd ranked Czech USK Praha at home 84-74. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 41-30 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Italian-American Diana Taurasi (182-82, college: Connecticut) orchestrated the victory by scoring 28 points. American center Candace Parker (193-86, college: Tennessee) contributed with 12 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. UMMC Ekaterinburg's coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Serbian forward Sonja Petrovic (189-89, agency: Josep and Nicolas) replied with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 12 rebounds and forward Eva Viteckova (190-82) added 23 points in the effort for USK Praha. As mentioned above they are alone now at the top position. Defending Czech champion USK Praha keeps the third place with three games lost. USK Praha will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. UMMC Ekaterinburg will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Lattes Montpellier at home.
