Very important is a home loss of second ranked Israeli Maccabi T-A (5-2) against fifth ranked German ALBA Berlin (3-4) on Thursday night. Host Maccabi T-A was defeated by ALBA Berlin in a tough game in Tel-Aviv 59-66. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Maccabi T-A. Maccabi T-A was ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 31-23 second half run of ALBA Berlin. Americans were the main players on the court. ALBA Berlin's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Swingman Devin Smith (196-83, college: Virginia) came up with 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and Nate Linhart (200-86, college: Akron, agency: LUMANI 10.7) added 15 points respectively for Maccabi T-A in the defeat. ALBA Berlin maintains fifth place in Group E with 3-4 record. Defending Israeli champion Maccabi T-A keeps the second position with two games lost. They share it with Panathinaikos. ALBA Berlin will play against higher ranked Regal FC Barcelona (#4) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Maccabi T-A will play against the group's second-placed Panathinaikos and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
