Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked German ALBA Berlin and 5th ranked Lithuanian Zalgiris had identical 3-5 record. This time ALBA Berlin used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Kaunas 80-72 on Wednesday night. Zalgiris trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 21-18 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 72-80 at the end of the game. They outrebounded Zalgiris 33-15 including a 22-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a good game for American swingman Reggie Redding (196-88, college: Villanova) who led his team to a victory with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. His fellow American import point guard Alex Renfroe (190-86, college: Belmont, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Guard Arturas Milaknis (195-86) answered with 18 points and power forward Darius Songaila (206-78, college: Wake Forest) added 12 points in the effort for Zalgiris. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. ALBA Berlin (4-5) moved-up to fifth place in Group E. Defending Lithuanian champion Zalgiris dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. ALBA Berlin will face league's leader Real Madrid on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zalgiris will play against Panathinaikos (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
