No shocking result in a game when third ranked Israeli Maccabi T-A (9-5) defeated on the road 5th ranked German ALBA Berlin (7-7) 73-64 on Thursday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But ALBA Berlin won third quarter 17-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Maccabi T-A won last quarter 20-13. The best player for the winners was American swingman Devin Smith (196-83, college: Virginia) who scored 28 points and 7 rebounds. American-Israeli center Alex Tyus (203-88, college: Florida) chipped in 8 points and 10 rebounds. American point guard Alex Renfroe (190-86, college: Belmont, agency: Beo Basket) produced 10 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists and his fellow American import swingman Reggie Redding (196-88, college: Villanova) added 9 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists respectively for the hosts. ALBA Berlin's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending Israeli champion maintains third position in Group E with 9-5 record having just two points less than leader Real Madrid. Loser ALBA Berlin keeps the fifth place with seven games lost.
