No shocking result in a game when third ranked Spanish Real Madrid (4-5) smashed on the road bottom-ranked German Bayern Muenchen (4-5) 86-67 on Friday. The guests trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 50-29 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Real Madrid looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The best player for the winners was Mexican power forward Gustavo Ayon (207-85, college: San Jose St., agency: Duran International) who scored 22 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Sergio Llull (190-87) chipped in 18 points and 5 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was American-Guinea-Bissau guard K.C. Rivers (196-87, college: Clemson) who recorded 22 points and Serbian Dusko Savanovic (204-83, agency: Beo Basket) added 9 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Spanish champion maintains third place in Group A with 4-5 record having just three points less than leader Fener.Ulker, which they share with Crvena Zvezda. Real Madrid will face Strasbourg IG (#6) at home in the next round. Bayern Muenchen will play against Crvena Zvezda in Beograd and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
