Regular Season Round 9: Strasbourg - Khimky 69-78

There was no surprise when 6th ranked French Strasbourg IG (3-6) was defeated at home by fourth ranked Russian Khimky (5-4) 78-69 on Friday. The guests trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-69. Khimky outrebounded Strasbourg IG 44-29 including a 19-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American forward Tyler Honeycutt (203-90, college: UCLA) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points, 19 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Alexey Shved (198-88, agency: Alti Sport) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds. Four Khimky players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Kyle Weems (198-89, college: Missouri St.) who recorded 14 points and Montenegrin-Serbian center Vladimir Golubovic (212-86, agency: Beo Basket) added 12 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Khimky moved-up to second place in Group A. Strasbourg IG lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth position with six games lost. Khimky will face league's leader Fenerbahce Ulker in Istanbul in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Strasbourg IG will play on the road against Real Madrid (#3) and hope to win that game.
