Regular Season Round 9: Castors Braine - Abdullah Gul 68-64

There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Belgian Castors Braine (3-6) won against at home higher ranked Turkish Abdullah Gul (5-4) 68-64 on Tuesday. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Abdullah Gul won third quarter 15-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for center Ann Wauters (194-80, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who led her team to a victory with 17 points and 6 rebounds. American Sidney Spencer (191-85, college: Tennessee, agency: LBM Management) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Castors Braine's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American-Turkish LaToya Sanders (191-86, college: N.Carolina) answered with 22 points and 9 rebounds and Greek forward Zoi Dimitrakou (188-87, agency: Josep and Nicolas) added 16 points in the effort for Abdullah Gul. Defending Belgian champion moved-up to sixth place in Group B, which they share with Bourges. Abdullah Gul at the other side dropped to the third position with four games lost. Castors Braine will face bottom-ranked Argon Uni Girona (#8) on the road in the next round. Abdullah Gul will play against Bourges (#6) and hope to win that game.
