Regular Season Round 10: Fenerbahce - Villeneuve 77-54

Euroleague top team - Turkish Fenerbahce (9-1) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed fifth ranked French Villeneuve D'Ascq (5-5) in Istanbul 77-54. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Villeneuve D'Ascq. The game without a history. Fenerbahce led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Villeneuve D'Ascq's 32. They outrebounded Villeneuve D'Ascq 41-27 including a 31-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American center Jantel Lavender (191-88, college: Ohio St.) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds. Hungarian-American guard Allie Quigley (178-86, college: De Paul) contributed with 10 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. Greek forward Styliani Kaltsidou (188-83, agency: Josep and Nicolas) replied with 15 points and Johanne Gomis-Halilovic (179-85, agency: Comsport) added 12 points in the effort for Villeneuve D'Ascq. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Fenerbahce have an impressive nine-game winning streak. They maintain first position in Group A with 9-1 record. Villeneuve D'Ascq at the other side keeps the fifth place with five games lost. Fenerbahce's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked MKB Euroleasing (#8) in Sopron and are hoping to win another game. Villeneuve D'Ascq will play at home against Galatasaray and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
