There was no surprise when 5th ranked French Villeneuve D'Ascq (5-9) was defeated on the road by third ranked Italian Familia Schio (10-4) 75-57 on Wednesday. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 6-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 75-57. Familia Schio made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was French center Isabelle Yacoubou (190-86, agency: Comsport) who scored 26 points and 5 rebounds. Forward Laura Macchi (188-79) chipped in 11 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Johanne Gomis-Halilovic (179-85, agency: Comsport) produced 15 points and American forward Megan Mahoney (183-83, college: Kansas St., agency: LBM Management) added 12 points respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Defending Italian champion moved-up to second place in Group A. Loser Villeneuve D'Ascq dropped to the sixth position with nine games lost.
