Flammes stunned Freiburg on the road to put one foot into the regular season. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 23-19. But Eisvogel Freiburg won second period 13-12. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Flammes forced 24 Eisvogel Freiburg turnovers. Strangely Eisvogel Freiburg outrebounded Flammes 35-23 including 20 on the defensive glass. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Belgian Kim Mestdagh (179-90, college: Colorado St., agency: LBM Management) fired 25 points, 5 assists and 6 steals for the winners. Ukrainian center Valeriya Berezhynska (193-86, college: Rice, agency: Josep and Nicolas) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds. Flammes' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American center Shakeya Leary (189-90, college: Syracuse, agency: LBM Management) produced 4 points, 13 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals and center Nadjeschda Ilmberger (190-96) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Eisvogel Freiburg players scored in double figures.
