A very interesting game took place in Istanbul. It ended with only one-point defeat on the road of German Brose Baskets (0-1) to Turkish Fenerbahce (1-0) 67-66 on Friday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. It looked good early as Brose Baskets took a 4-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Fenerbahce had a 18-11 second period charge getting the lead and Brose Baskets were not able to take back game control losing it eventually 66-67. Fenerbahce made 18-of-23 charity shots (78.3 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Brose Baskets helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Serbian swingman Bogdan Bogdanovic (198-92) fired 18 points for the winners. Nigeria power forward Ekpe Udoh (208-87, college: Baylor) chipped in 10 points and 7 rebounds. Four Fenerbahce players scored in double figures. American guard Darius Miller (203-90, college: Kentucky) produced 17 points and Italian Nicolo Melli (205-91) added 5 points and 12 rebounds respectively for lost side. Brose Baskets' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Fenerbahce's next round opponent will be FC Barcelona (#5) on the road. Brose Baskets will play against Unics Kazan (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
