Regular Season Round 1: UNI Gyor - USK Praha 51-90
Date: October 27, 2016
An interesting game was also a 39-point tough home loss of Hungarian UNI Gyor in a game versus undefeated Czech USK Praha (#6) 90-51. The game was mostly controlled by USK Praha. UNI Gyor managed to win second period 18-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded UNI Gyor 40-23 including a 33-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. USK Praha looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Serbian forward Sonja Petrovic (189-89, agency: Josep and Nicolas) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and center Alena Hanusova (190-91) accounted for 15 points and 7 rebounds. Four USK Praha players scored in double figures. American forward Cyesha Goree (190-93, college: Michigan, agency: Interperformances) came up with 16 points and 6 rebounds and Slovakian power forward Zofia Hruscakova (190-95) added 10 points and 7 rebounds respectively for UNI Gyor in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. USK Praha will meet at home Wisla Can-Pack (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. UNI Gyor will play against Familia Schio and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
