Regular Season Round 5: Maccabi T-A - FC Barcelona 69-79

Everything could happen in Tel-Aviv at the game between two tied teams. Both eleventh ranked Spanish FC Barcelona and 10th ranked Israeli Maccabi T-A had identical 2-2 record. But Maccabi T-A was not able to use a home court advantage and was defeated by the opponent from Barcelona 79-69 on Wednesday night. The game was mostly controlled by FC Barcelona. Maccabi T-A was better in fourth quarter 22-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American power forward Joey Dorsey (206-83, college: Memphis) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 11 points, 11 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American-Montenegrin point guard Tyrese Rice (185-87, college: Boston Coll.) chipped in 21 points. American swingman Devin Smith (196-83, college: Virginia) responded with 18 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import guard Andrew Goudelock (190-88, college: Charleston) scored 19 points. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. FC Barcelona (3-2) moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 4 other teams. Loser Maccabi T-A dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. FC Barcelona will face Zalgiris (#14) in Kaunas in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Maccabi T-A will play on the road against Panathinaikos (#6) in Athens and hope to win that game.
