Regular Season Round 2: Fenerbahce - Lattes Montp. 69-63

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of French Lattes Montpellier (1-1) in Istanbul. Visitors were defeated by Turkish Fenerbahce (2-0) 69-63. It looked good early as Lattes Montpellier took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Fenerbahce had a 14-11 second period charge getting the lead and Lattes Montpellier was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 63-69. Fenerbahce players were unselfish on offense dishing 25 assists. French center Sandrine Gruda (193-87, agency: Comsport) notched 23 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) to lead the effort and American swingman Shekinna Stricklen (187-90, college: Tennessee) supported her with 16 points and 4 assists. Fenerbahce's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 18 points (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) by forward Fatimatou Sacko (177-85, agency: Comsport) did not help to save the game for Lattes Montpellier. Australia Rachel Jarry (185-91) added 11 points and 4 assists for the guests. Fenerbahce will play against UNI Gyor (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Lattes Montpellier will play against Dynamo Kursk to get more than just one victory in their record.
