There was a surprise result in Bamberg where thirteenth ranked German Brose Baskets (2-3) defeated higher ranked Italian Armani Milano (2-3) 106-102 on Thursday. Brose Baskets made 26-of-32 free shots (81.3 percent) during the game. Armani Milano was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. American guard Darius Miller (202-90, college: Kentucky) stepped up and scored 27 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and Italian Nicolo Melli (205-91) chipped in 15 points and 9 rebounds. American swingman Rakim Sanders (193-89, college: Fairfield) responded with 25 points and the other American import forward Jamel McLean (203-88, college: Xavier, agency: BeoBasket) scored 17 points and 9 rebounds. Five Brose Baskets and four Armani Milano players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Defending German champion moved-up to ninth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Armani Milano. Armani Milano lost their third game in a row. Brose Baskets will face higher ranked Darussafaka (#5) in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
