Regular Season Round 5: Real Madrid - Galatasaray 90-81

Bottom-ranked Turkish Galatasaray (0-5) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to third ranked Spanish Real Madrid (4-1) 90-81 on Thursday evening. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 45-34 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Real Madrid outrebounded Galatasaray 37-26 including 29 on the defensive glass. The best player for the winners was Sergio Llull (190-87) who scored 23 points. Rudy Fernandez (197-85) chipped in 13 points and 6 assists. Four Real Madrid players scored in double figures. Real Madrid's coach used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. American-Israeli center Alex Tyus (203-88, college: Florida) produced 14 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Serbian forward Vladimir Micov (201-85, agency: BeoBasket) added 17 points respectively for the guests. Defending Spanish champion moved-up to second place, which they share with Fenerbahce. Galatasaray lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Real Madrid will meet league's leader CSKA in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Galatasaray will play against Olympiacos (#4) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
