Regular Season Round 3: Villeneuve - Avenida 69-68

The biggest surprise of round 3 in Euroleague took place in Villeneuve where host French Villeneuve D'Ascq (1-2) edged Spanish Perfumerias Avenida (2-1) 69-68 on Wednesday evening. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-11. But Perfumerias Avenida won second period 17-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Villeneuve D'Ascq forced 26 Perfumerias Avenida turnovers. The best player for the winners was forward Valerianne Ayayi (184-94, agency: Comsport) who scored 15 points and 5 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Guard Virginie Bremont (177-87, agency: Comsport) chipped in 12 points and 6 assists. Villeneuve D'Ascq's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the other side the best for losing team was Nigeria-American forward Adaora Elonu (185-90, college: Texas A&M, agency: Josep and Nicolas) who recorded 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and Serbian-Hungarian forward Tijana Krivacevic (196-90) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Five Perfumerias Avenida players scored in double figures. Perfumerias Avenida will play next round against CCC Polkowice trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Villeneuve D'Ascq will try to continue on its current victory against Hatay on the road.
