Regular Season Round 6: Panathinaikos - Maccabi T-A 83-75

Very expected game in Athens where 11th ranked Israeli Maccabi T-A (2-4) was defeated by seventh ranked Greek Panathinaikos (4-2) 83-75 on Thursday. The best player for the winners was American forward Chris Singleton (206-89, college: Florida St.) who scored 26 points and 6 rebounds. American-Greek point guard Nick Calathes (198-89, college: Florida) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Panathinaikos' coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American swingman Devin Smith (196-83, college: Virginia) who recorded a double-double by scoring 11 points and 12 rebounds and his fellow American import swingman Sonny Weems (198-86, college: Arkansas) added 15 points and 5 assists respectively. Four Maccabi T-A players scored in double figures. Panathinaikos moved-up to second place, which they share with 5 other teams. Maccabi T-A at the other side dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Panathinaikos will face Real Madrid (#6) on the road in the next round. Maccabi T-A will play against Fenerbahce (#7) and hope to win that game.
