Everything could happen in Istanbul at the game between two tied teams. Both twelfth ranked Turkish Anadolu Efes and 13th ranked Russia Unics Kazan had identical 2-4 record. This time Anadolu Efes used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Kazan 104-99 on Tuesday night. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 32-20 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Anadolu Efes made 23-of-24 free shots (95.8 percent) during the game. It was a great shooting night for Anadolu Efes especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists comparing to just 21 passes made by Unics Kazan's players. Quite impressive performance for French guard Thomas Heurtel (189-89, agency: BeoBasket) who helped to win the game recording 24 points and 8 assists. American forward Tyler Honeycutt (203-90, college: UCLA) contributed with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. American Keith Langford (193-83, college: Kansas) answered with 25 points and 9 assists and Belarusian center Artsiom Parakhouski (211-87, college: Radford) added 20 points and 10 rebounds (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) in the effort for Unics Kazan. Five Anadolu Efes and four Unics Kazan players scored in double figures. Both coaches allowed to play bench players in such tough game. Anadolu Efes (3-4) moved-up to tenth place, which they share with Maccabi T-A and Crvena Zvezda. Loser Unics Kazan keeps the thirteenth position with five games lost. Anadolu Efes will face higher ranked Fenerbahce (#9) in Istanbul in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Unics Kazan will play at home against Maccabi T-A (#10) and hope to win that game.
