Regular Season Round 8: Panathinaikos - Olympiacos 77-79

The most interesting game of round 8 was only two-point a home defeat of 7th ranked Panathinaikos (4-4) to sixth ranked Olympiacos (5-3) 79-77. Panathinaikos were trailing by 8 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 18-14 charge of Olympiacos, which allowed them to win the game. Worth to mention a great performance of Vassilis Spanoulis (193-82, agency: BeoBasket) who helped to win the game recording 22 points and 8 assists and Georgios Printezis (204-85, agency: Octagon Europe) who added 16 points during the contest. Olympiacos' coach used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. American-Greek point guard Nick Calathes (198-89, college: Florida) responded with 16 points and 9 assists and American forward Chris Singleton (206-89, college: Florida St.) scored 14 points and 9 rebounds. Four Panathinaikos players scored in double figures. Defending Greek champion moved-up to third place, which they share with 3 other teams. Panathinaikos at the other side keep the seventh position with four games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. Olympiacos is looking forward to face Maccabi T-A (#11) in Tel-Aviv in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Panathinaikos will play at home against Darussafaka (#5) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
