Regular Season Round 9: CSKA - Baskonia 112-84

Russian leader CSKA delivered the eighth win on Friday night. This time they crushed 5th ranked Spanish Baskonia (5-4) 112-84 in Moscow. The hosts trailed by 10 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 28 points. CSKA made 22-of-27 free shots (81.5 percent) during the game. CSKA outrebounded Baskonia 36-22 including 24 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Baskonia's players. The best player for the winners was Serbian point guard Milos Teodosic (195-87) who had a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). American forward James Augustine (208-84, college: Illinois) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was French guard Rodrigue Beaubois (185-88) who recorded 19 points and German center Johannes Voigtmann (211-92) added 9 points and 9 rebounds respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending Russian champion maintains first place with 8-1 record. Baskonia at the other side dropped to the fourth position with four games lost. They share it with 4 other teams. CSKA are looking forward to face bottom-ranked Brose Baskets (#16) in Bamberg in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Baskonia will play at home against Galatasaray (#14) and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
